Dr. Jennifer Thomson provides comprehensive orthopaedic surgery, sports medicine, and trauma care for athletes and active patients throughout Clark, New Jersey, as part of Hackensack Meridian Health.

Dr. Jennifer Thomson, M.D., is a board-eligible, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine of the shoulder, elbow, and knee, with additional expertise in orthopaedic trauma. Dr. Thomson earned her medical degree and completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at Houston Methodist. This depth of training allows her to offer patients the full range of care, from first-line non-operative management to the most technically demanding arthroscopic and open reconstructive procedures.
Beyond the operating room, Dr. Thomson brings an unusually broad base of sideline and event coverage experience. During her fellowship in Houston, she served as a team physician for a Houston-area high school, Rice University, the Houston Texans and the Houston Astros. Her event coverage includes NCAA March Madness, the World Baseball Classic, and the Houston Rodeo — exposing her to the full spectrum of athletic injury. That range sharpened both her surgical judgment and her instinct for building recovery plans that respect an athlete's timeline and goals, whatever level they compete at.
Dr. Thomson is equally committed to caring for individuals at every level of activity, helping them return safely to their active lifestyles — whether that's a professional athlete, a weekend recreational player, or someone simply looking to get back to daily life without pain. She is also dedicated to the care of adolescent athletes, treating young patients and their families with an approach that accounts for growth plates, long-term joint health, and the emotional weight an injury can carry for a young person mid-season.
From MLB to the NFL, Dr. Thomson's sports medicine experience runs from the sideline to the operating room.
